The Catholic Community at Colorado College

A Complete Education

John Henry Cardinal Newman, a university teacher and perhaps the most noted convert to Catholicism in the 19th century, insisted that a higher education without God was an incomplete education.

The Diocese of Colorado Springs recognizes and values Cardinal Newman’s vision, and so, along with Shove Chapel and Colorado College, Bishop Sheridan has continued the ministry outreach of over a decade to the community of CC. Each opportunity of worship, prayer, study and fellowship is open to all members of campus as we strive to achieve the aims of Cardinal Newman - to enrich the spiritual, the educational, and the social aspects of the Catholic students in a secular institution.

Join the Assembly

Weekly Liturgy is to be the “source and summit” of our lives as Catholic Christians. To foster that ideal, every Sunday evening, starting the day before classes begin through Baccalaureate Mass on the evening before graduation, Sunday Mass is celebrated at Shove Chapel. All students are encouraged to discern calling to the liturgical ministries: proclamation of the Word, extraordinary ministry of the Eucharist, altar service, and music ministry.

Supper and a Topic

Join us for a Catholic community meal where we can enjoy a “family” dinner with a chance to discuss with peers, clergy and others some of the more salient topics in Catholicism to young adults.

A Chance to Get Away

Let opportunities for retreats spiritually, emotionally and physically re-create you. This is another way to build community and explore prayer, meditation and deepening of faith for those who search for God in their lives. Plan for retreats during second and fifth block-breaks.

Devotion and Worship

Start or continue a devotional practice with communal rosary prayer or learn to prayer the Liturgy of the Hours with evening prayer.

Complete the Process

Still need to finish your full initiation into the Catholic community with the sacrament of Confirmation? Or maybe you are answering the call to Christianity. This community will journey with you during the preparation and reception of the sacraments.
