COLORADO SPRINGS. A decree establishing diocesan-wide norms for marriage preparation and the sacrament of matrimony was promulgated by Bishop Michael Sheridan on Oct. 3, 2019, and those who work with engaged couples say that it is already having a positive impact on their ministry.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Innovative and interactive “prayer stations” allow participants to experience prayer and meditation in unique ways that help them to encounter God.

By creating an environment and atmosphere that focuses on a particular theme, scripture passage, or liturgical season, prayer stations help guide participants into a potentially deeper relationship with God.

A few weeks ago, I served with Bishop Sheridan and Father Kirk Slattery of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in a COVID-delayed Confirmation Mass for 53 young people.

 Most of the time I worry about getting the sequences, prayers, and actions right as a deacon. What struck me at this Mass was the homily of the Bishop. The exact words escape me now, but his opening words to the young people were “Are you ready?”
