COLORADO SPRINGS. Exciting pro-life things are happening in our diocese — none of them related to the Supreme Court of the United States.

On June 4, the Catholics 4 Life Network team supported long-time partners and friends from Life Network at Memorial Park and around the diocese in the annual Walk for Life. In July 2019, Dr. Leana Wen, the only president in the history of Planned Parenthood to possess the title of “physician,” took one step too far for her employer when she wrote a moving and provocative op-ed in the Washington Post about her miscarriage. In this article, Wen spoke of her miscarried child as a human being, the biggest “no-no” in the abortion industry. Less than 2-weeks later, she was ousted by the board of Planned Parenthood. This was after just 8-months of using her role to push for the organization to live up to its own lies and offer actual health care services to women, not just abortion.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Dr. Pat Castle is the first to acknowledge the progress that the pro-life movement has made over the past 30 years.

“Today, we’ve got more than 4,000 pregnancy help centers in America and less than 700 abortion facilities,” said Castle, who will be the keynote speaker at the Bishop’s Respect Life Dinner Oct. 6. “In 1991, that was about reversed. Each of those (pregnancy help) centers is really important, and we’ve done a better job of communicating that they exist.”

The ultrasound technician offered me her condolences. I was thankful. At least she understood that I was in anguish over the miscarriage of my child one week prior. My doctor had simply stated that “nature will take its course.” Though I was nine weeks along in my pregnancy, my baby had stopped growing at just five weeks, six days old.
