COLORADO SPRINGS. A forum on religious freedom titled “Religious Liberty: Now and Forever” will take place on Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Apostles Parish. The event is sponsored by the Colorado Catholic Conference and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

COLORADO SPRINGS. During a recent stop in Colorado Springs, former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback announced that an international summit on religious freedom will take place in Washington, D.C., from July 25-26. Brownback serves as Ambassador at Large for Religious Freedom in the U.S. State Dept.

The Fortnight for Freedom, which we’ve been celebrating each year at the end of June and beginning of July has recently been reconfigured. Beginning this year, Religious Freedom Week is to be held annually June 22–29. The observance is a bit shorter, but no less important. This year’s theme is “Serving Others in God’s Love.”

In college, I grew in my Catholic faith and had a strong experience of religious pluralism. I was involved in the Newman Center daily, but I also had many non-Catholic friends and even frequented Hillel House, the Jewish student center.
