DIOCESAN JUDGE (Full-Time/Exempt - Catholic Pastoral Center, Colorado Springs, CO)

Job Description:  

General Purpose: In a spirit of collaboration and charity, to further the spiritual and religious mission of the Diocese of Colorado Springs by assisting the Judicial Vicar by acting as Tribunal Judge performing duties such as reading, researching law, preparing Definitive Sentences and ruling in matrimonial cases. If the applicant is a priest, he will be given the title of Adjutant Judicial Vicar. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Intake of new petitions for a declaration of nullity:  Act as first point of contact with petitioners.  Determine case type.  Explain process, requirements, and rights of the parties.  Receive new formal petitions – read and analyze, create report identifying potential grounds, and decide whether to accept or reject case.

  • Research: Research canon law, Rotal jurisprudence, Papal allocutions, Apostolic Signatura responses and more for support of Judge’s role.  Enter, catalog, and maintain research for easy access.  Write law sections for Definitive Sentences in scholarly manner so that law section is tailored to the circumstances of the case.
  • Definitive Sentence:  Compose Definitive Sentences or voti in a timely manner. 
  • Make voti of every case.
  • Formal cases:  Offer advice to petitioners regarding witnesses to include or exclude in given case.  Evaluate witness testimony as presented, requesting additional witnesses, or other documentation, as necessary.  Participate in judicial exams, as needed.  Coordinate all appeals of negative decisions.
  • Pauline cases: Responsible for the instruction of Pauline cases, including receiving of petitions, creation of letters and decrees for Bishop’s and Judicial Vicar’s signatures, collection of witness testimony, etc.
  • Petrine and Non-Consummatum cases:  Responsible for all cases being sent to Rome.  Coordinate and communicate with petitioners’ processes and requirements.  Ensure case instruction is in accordance with norms.  Create letters and decrees for Bishop’s and Judicial Vicar’s signatures, collect witnesses’ testimony, coordinate and facilitate reports from the Defender of the Bond, Instructing Judge, and Bishop.  Organize cases according to Roman standards, photocopy, bind, and send cases to Rome.
  • Teach on canonical understanding of marriage, the difference processes, etc., for ongoing training of Advocates.

Perform other administrative duties as needed and under the direction of the Judicial Vicar.

Minimum Requirements:

      Education:   License in Canon Law (JCL).

      Experience:  Minimum of three years of Tribunal work required.  Reading proficiency in Latin, a plus.  Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing. 

      Other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills,
      and abilities:

  •       Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred for this position
  •       Knowledge and expertise in Canon Law.
  •         Ability to work faithfully within Church magisterium and canonical process.

GIFT DATA AND DONOR SPECIALIST (CATHOLIC PASTORAL CENTER (COLORADO SPRINGS, CO)

Position Summary: 

The Gift Data & Donor Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Stewardship and Development team by overseeing the integrity of our donor database, Raiser’s Edge. Key responsibilities include daily gift entry and processing, pledge management, reconciliation in coordination with the Finance Office, donor acknowledgment generation, and maintaining accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge and ParishSOFT.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Gift Processing & Management
    • Process all monetary gifts, pledges, and donor-related transactions in Raiser’s Edge accurately and in a timely manner
    • Track and reconcile incoming funds (checks, cash, online credit cards, bank lockbox)
    • Upload and verify daily gift data from the bank lockbox; resolve exceptions within 48 hours
    • Deposit transactions via remote deposit and in-person as needed
    • Maintain and reconcile online donation forms and credit card/ACH processes
    • Submit timely invoices to Accounts Payable when funds need to be released Submit deposit records to Accounts Receivable (within 24 hours of receipt)
    • Ability to calculate DMA parish rebates
    • Maintain accurate donation records, including electronic (PDF) batch copies, for audits and reporting
    • Generate and send timely donor acknowledgments and year-end tax letters
    • Generate contribution statements for other ministry departments (e.g., priest retirement, seminarians)
    • Ensure understanding and observance to cash handling procedures
    • Maintain donor census data in Raiser’s Edge and ParishSOFT
    • Provide monthly contribution statements to departments as needed
    • Liaison with the Finance Office for reconciliation and financial reporting
    • Demonstrate strong communication skills (written, verbal, and in-person) with donors and internal teams
  • Donor Communication & Information Management
    • Serve as first line of contact for donor inquiries regarding donations already made to the diocese, either resolving or passing on to staff as appropriate for follow-up
    • Maintain current and accurate donor information in Raiser’s Edge and/or ParishSOFT. Update information such as no-mailing requests, returned mailings, deceased records, and requested donor information changes
  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Develop and run reports and ad hoc queries from Raiser’s Edge as needed
    • Support data needs for audits and fiscal year-end close processes
    • Provide database training and support to team members as requested
    • Stay current on query-based software and reporting tools
  • Team Duties and Back-Up
    • Attend and participate in team meetings and one-on-one check-ins
    • Remain informed about diocesan and parish priorities and initiatives
    • Keep up with software updates and industry best practices
    • Collaborate with the Director and consultants to maintain a policy/procedure manual
    • Support fundraising events and evaluate process improvements for team efficiency
    • Provide administrative support and back-up coverage for department functions

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong donor-relations mindset
  • 2–3 years of bookkeeping or data entry experience preferred
    • Associate degree in business or related field preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to follow and adhere to established processes and deadlines.
    • Experience in customer service or donor relations.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
    • Knowledge of Blackbaud products (Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge, Merchant Services) preferred.
    • Familiarity with ParishSOFT Accounting is a plus.

DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES - PAX CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH (LONE TREE, CO)

The Director of Facilities oversees the maintenance of parish property, keeping the building, grounds, and equipment clean and well-preserved, making repairs as needed, and supervising contractors when appropriate.  This position is dedicated to ensuring staff, parishioners and visitors find our campus to be safe, comfortable, and inviting.  The Director is also responsible for supervising contracted work and maintaining parish contracts for maintenance services in accordance with Diocesan guidelines, as well as state and local laws.    

 

This position is primarily onsite, with occasional nights and weekends required, based on the needs of the parish. This role requires a friendly, helpful, person with good judgment and a heart for serving the staff and community.  This individual takes pride in his or her work and cares for church property as if it were his or her own.

 

Responsibilities:

Oversee Maintenance of Buildings, Equipment and Grounds

  • Schedule preventive maintenance of equipment by a licensed contractor (HVAC, Fire Suppression system, elevator, etc.)
  • Identify potential issues with buildings or equipment and take action to avoid failures, outages, or unnecessary expense.
  • Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of equipment on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, as needed
  • Perform minor repairs of building and equipment, arranging major repairs with a licensed contractor when necessary
  • Monitor and adjust heating and cooling systems in all buildings as building usage, staff schedules, or seasons change
  • Inspect and monitor buildings and grounds for safety concerns, taking action as needed
  • Maintain Baptismal Font and pool
    • Perform weekly maintenance of font, including topping off water level, managing chemical levels, and making adjustments to flow level for various liturgical events, as needed. 
    • Prepare font and pool annually for immersion baptisms at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
      • Empty font on Holy Thursday and perform annual cleaning
      • Refill font and pool following Good Friday Service, ensuring pool is a comfortable temperature by Saturday evening.
  • Maintain rectory, including identifying potential issues, performing routine maintenance, making minor repairs, contracting for larger repairs when necessary.
  • Mow all grassy areas, including native grass, regularly.  Fertilize as needed.
  • Monitor outdoor sprinkler system, making regular adjustments and minor repairs as needed.  Arrange major repairs with vendors when necessary.
  • Provide snow removal from rectory driveway and parking lots.  Clear sidewalks in order to ensure all visitors to the campus are safe.
  • Research and find appropriate vendors for larger projects, as needed
    • Solicit bids and consult with Business Manager for approval of costs
    • Obtain appropriate insurance certificates
    • Supervise or Manage the work being performed
    • Keep contracts up to date and provide copies to Business Manager

 

Oversee Cleaning of Property

  • Supervise contracted cleaning crew and provide feedback regarding the quality of their work
    • Ensure daily cleaning of all interior areas, exterior entrance and walkways is completed for Church, Chapel, and all public spaces
    • Ensure rectory is cleaned bi-weekly
  • Contract additional cleaning as requested for special celebrations such as Christmas and Easter
  • Wax all hard surface floors as needed
  • Wash Windows as needed
  • Order and stock cleaning supplies and supplies for restrooms

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Monitor security system and respond to alarms as needed
  • Lock, unlock, and monitor buildings per regular schedule and occasionally on evenings or weekends as requested
  • Move fixtures, including tables and chairs, and assist with the setup of special events and celebrations
  • Consult with staff regarding scheduling of inspections and major maintenance (floor polishing, painting, etc.) to ensure important events and celebrations are not disrupted
  • Consult with pastor regarding scheduling of any work to be done at the rectory
  • Schedule and lead walk-throughs with insurance company and any other necessary agencies (elevator inspector, water, fire system, etc.) to ensure all systems are code compliant and operating properly

MUSIC MINISTRY DIRECTOR - ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH (MONUMENT, CO)

Summary: To promote, coordinate and develop the active participation of the parish community in liturgical prayer and music.

Responsibilities:

Parish:

  • Weekly direct the music and cantors for the Saturday 5:00pm, Sunday 8:00 and 10:30am and 5:00pm liturgies. Cover holy days, Lenten Friday nights, Parish retreats & missions, regional Masses and other as needed
  •  Act as accompanist at weekend Masses and seasonal liturgies
  • To oversee all liturgical music for the weekend liturgies, assuring continuity throughout the liturgies and reviewing the music selections for each liturgy six weeks in advance
  • With DRE coordinate and help execute the music for children's sacramental celebrations
  • Partner with Pastor and DRE to design, prepare and execute all liturgies including various seasonal liturgies such as Lent, Easter, etc.
  • Meet with engaged couples and coordinate music for weddings. Meet with families and coordinate music for funerals. Attend staff and liturgy meetings
  • Meet with other music leaders before every liturgical season to coordinate appropriate music for that season

School:

  • Meet with teachers to plan occasional school liturgies
  • Accompanist during school Masses

Administrative:

  • To serve as a resource person to parish staff and parish at large on the subject of music within liturgical worship
  • Advertise and promote activities by use of weekly parish bulletin flyers, pulpit announcements and other appropriate media
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of all parish owned instruments. Coordinate with outside contractors to maintain sound system
  • Supervise the person responsible for operating the sound system
  • Order and distribute all music requested by music leaders
  • Complete all volunteer paperwork and training as per Diocesan guidelines
  • Coordinate replacement musicians for specific absences
  • Submit purchase orders and ensure timely ordering of supplies
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions


Budget:

  • Propose a yearly budget plan of itemized financial assessment of the cost and expenses for the following items: a) Equipment b) Choir materials, c) Staff development expenses (professional memberships & subscriptions), d) Contracted musicians
