On February 7, 2026, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV appointed Bishop James R. Golka, bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Denver.
After the Installation Mass of Archbishop Golka in Denver on March 25, 2026, the Diocese of Colorado Springs became sede vacante, or a “vacant See.” Following the dictates of Canon Law, the Diocesan College of Consulters elected the Very Reverend Kyle T. Ingels to serve as Diocesan Administrator until the Holy Father names a new Bishop for the Diocese.
The Bishop's Office is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
