About the monstrance:

The Saint Pope John Paul II Monstrance is a monstrance blessed by the late Pope in 2004 to promote prayer for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Six such monstrances were created for the Year of the Eucharist, and one was given to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for North America. It is entrusted to the care of the Serra Club and travels to various parishes and dioceses to facilitate prayer and Eucharistic adoration for vocations.  

Purpose: 

The primary purpose is to encourage prayer for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life. 

Origin: 

Pope John Paul II blessed six monstrances in 2004 for the "Year of the Eucharist" to serve this purpose. 

 North American Monstrance: 

The monstrance for North America was given to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), which then entrusted it to the USA Council of Serra International.

 Touring and Usage: 

The monstrance travels to local parishes, cathedrals, and other Catholic communities across the United States and Canada. It is used for Eucharistic adoration where people gather to pray for vocations. 

 Availability: 

Due to high demand, the monstrance's availability has been extended beyond the initial year.
