Under the direction of Bishop Michael J. Sheridan, faithful of the diocese who have an ardent love for Divine Mercy Devotion, have gathered to form DIVINE MERCY OF THE ROCKIES. We have three objectives: the promotion of the message of Divine Mercy, the exercise of Divine Mercy in prayers, words, and deeds, and the exploration of the possibility of a DIVINE MERCY OF THE ROCKIES Shrine.  If you are interested in this committee or supporting its objectives, please contact us at divinemercy@diocs.org.

The Diocese of Colorado Springs has been able to obtain the relics of St Faustina and St John Paul II.

The relic of St Faustina is a bone fragment of the saint. The reliquary has the words in Polish for “Jesus, I trust in You!” in a banner under the relic. At the base of the relic is the Coat of Arms for the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy which St Faustina entered in 1926 and in which she lived until her death in 1938.

This relic of Saint John Paul II is a piece of his blood-stained clothing from the day of the assassination attempt, May 13, 1981.  The reliquary has a banner with John Paul’s motto:  “Totus Tuus” referring to the saint’s total consecration to Mary.  At the bottom is the Coat of Arms of his papacy.  He died on Divine Mercy Sunday, 2005.

While these relics reside temporarily in the Divine Mercy Chapel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church until a Divine Mercy Shrine becomes a reality, they are available to travel to parishes and other institutions in the Diocese. Interested parties should contact the Divine Mercy Office at divinemercy@diocs.org.

It has long been a Catholic tradition to have homes blessed and enthroned to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Now that the Merciful Lord has revealed himself to us as Divine Mercy, homes may be enthroned to this image and devotion. A beautiful set of materials including the Divine Mercy image, prayers for enthronement and a well-crafted certificate of enthronement are now available. For more information on Home Enthronements to Divine Mercy, please contact the Divine Mercy Office at divinemercy@diocs.org.

Jesus presented the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to St. Faustina Kowalska in a vision in 1935. By means of this Chaplet, Jesus promised that we could obtain mercy for dying souls, ourselves, our family, friends, and communities, our country and the entire world. The Chaplet can be prayed privately, but in our Diocese, there are several opportunities to join others in praying this powerful prayer:

Each week will introduce one of the five devotions, will show a movie on Divine Mercy, and will end in praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet together (bring a rosary).

All are welcome!  Share God’s message of mercy and bring a friend!  We will be meeting in the Overflow Classrooms.  For more information or if you’d like to reserve a seat, please call or email Vicki Kapron, 719-282-7696, vickikapron@gmail.com.
