COLORADO SPRINGS. The Gabriel Project is a parish-based pro-life apostolate that was once active at both St. Patrick and Holy Trinity parishes and is now being introduced to the diocese as a whole.

Julie Bailey, Director of the Respect Life Apostolate of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, hosted a meeting on April 2 at St. Peter Parish in Monument to invite people from all parishes in the diocese to consider participating in this ministry.

On May 29, following the 5:30 p.m. vigil Mass at Holy Apostles Church, Father Jim Baron blessed new Stations of the Cross statues along the back walls of the sanctuary. He had announced the new stations in one of his “Fireside Chat” videos on Feb. 12.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Most people are familiar with the dramatic story of Saul on the road to Damascus. The notorious hunter of Christians is thrown to the ground by a flash of light and blinded for three days.

Less well-known is the story of Ananias — the disciple who was asked by God to lay hands on Saul, filling him with the Holy Spirit, restoring his sight and transforming him into the apostle we now know as St. Paul. Given Saul’s ruthless reputation, Ananias could have said “no” to God out of fear or lack of preparation. Instead, as told in Acts 9:10-19, Ananias chose to obey, setting Paul on his apostolic journey and greatly affecting the growth of the Church in the world.

Normally, the virtual weekend experience is for couples who can’t get away for the entire weekend for a traditional Marriage Encounter Weekend. That is one aim of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, not so much a program as a methodology that recognizes and respects the deep religious capacity of children. Another major aim of it is to prepare children to participate within the life of the Church.

Introduced into a few diocesan Catholic schools in 2012, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) has earned accolades and much enthusiasm.

COLORADO SPRINGS. The sacrament of Penance has been widely promoted within the Church in the past few years. During the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, from Dec. 8, 2015 through Nov. 20, 2016, Pope Francis called for extended times and opportunities for the sacrament. With this year’s 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Mother at Fatima, Portugal, culminating on Oct. 13, 2017, the faithful were reminded of her repeated exhortations for prayer, reparation and penance.
