Diocesan Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration set for Dec. 11
COLORADO SPRINGS. The diocesan celebration for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will take place Dec. 11. A procession will form at the southwest corner of Acacia Park at 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., the procession will leave the park and travel south on Tejon Street, west on Colorado Avenue, north on Cascade Avenue and west on Bijou Street, ending at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Bishop Michael Sheridan will celebrate Mass at the cathedral at 3 p.m.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patroness of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. The feast day commemorates her appearance to St. Juan Diego, on Tepeyac Hill near present-day Mexico City in 1541. An image of the Blessed Mother was miraculously imposed on his tilma, which can still be seen today.
