COLORADO SPRINGS. Father Jason Keas, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Cheyenne Wells and St. Augustine Parish in Kit Carson, served alongside Denver’s Archbishop Samuel Aquila at the Thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of St. Teresa Calcutta on Sept. 4.

He then concelebrated with Cardinal James Stafford for the first ever feast day of St. Teresa on Sept. 5. Both Masses were held at St. Joseph’s Church in Denver.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop Michael Sheridan is asking the faithful of the diocese to observe two days of prayer for peace during the month of September. On Sept. 9, the diocese will participate in a Day of Prayer for Peace in Our Communities, an initiative of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Sept. 9 is the feast of St. Peter Claver, a Spanish Jesuit priest known for his ministry to slaves. On Sept. 11, the diocese will observe the 15th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks by praying at Mass for the preservation of peace and justice.

When St. Mary’s High School hosted its first STEM Camp last summer for middle schoolers, it became obvious early on that the camp would become an annual offering. But Mike Kloenne, St. Mary’s math and engineering teacher who organizes the camp, had no idea at that time how popular the camp would be.
