Joy! That is the main word that comes to mind as I look back on the 2024 Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., for the National March for Life on Jan. 19.

Our group of 32 (19 youth, 13 chaperones) was enormously blessed by the entire experience. Thank you to every one of you who made this pilgrimage possible by your generous support of the Bishop’s Respect Life Fund whether through periodic donations or through your gifts at the Bishop’s Respect Life Roundup.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop James Golka announced that Father Kyle Ingels, who has served as Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) since 2014, will complete his service in campus ministry in June 2024. Father Ingels will be appointed Vicar General for the Diocese of Colorado Springs effective July 1, 2024, with anticipated residence in a parish. A new Director of Campus Ministry will be announced in early May of 2024.  Father Ingels will continue serving as Vocations Director for the diocese.

COLORADO SPRINGS. The Diocese of Colorado Springs is seeking information on men and women who have entered or will enter a religious order this year. Those whose names are submitted will be included in a poster inviting the faithful to pray for and support vocations to religious life. Deadline is April 15, 2024.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Since the day more than 20 years ago when the site plan for St. Gabriel the Archangel Church was put to paper, it has included a place reserved for a sculpture devoted to the angel of the Annunciation.

The discovery of the apparently incorrupt remains of Sister Mary Wilhelmina Lancaster of the Most Holy Rosary on April 28, 2023, has created hopeful excitement within the American Catholic Community.  It has also inspired many to look closer at the life of this little-known African American religious and to consider the history of rich contributions by African Americans to Catholicism.  Sister Wilhelmina’s quiet but determined faith inspired others to live her credo, “God’s Will.”
