Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life appears, then you will also appear with him in glory. Col 3:2-4

On Feb. 22, we celebrate Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.  The season of Lent is a wonderful time for the Church to reflect more deeply upon what meaning our lives now have because of Christ’s suffering, dying and rising.

As January turns to February, we are observing some important things.

And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only-begotten Son from the Father. -John 1:14

On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, the Mass readings shift from the ministry of St. John the Baptist to the narrative of the birth of Jesus. This coming weekend we “prepare for landing” and brace ourselves for the amazing and scandalizing birth of Our Lord.
