Wild West nun Sister Blandina is focus of a planned TV series

DENVER. Sister Blandina Segale was an Italian immigrant who came to the Wild West town of Trinidad, Colorado, at the age of only 22.

Amid her efforts to start schools and hospitals, she intervened against lynch mobs, conversed with outlaws, and lived such a life that she is now a candidate for sainthood.

Her life and the history of 1870s Trinidad have inspired a television series in development called “Trinidad,” in which Sister Blandina will be the main character.

NEW YORK. Feeling nostalgic for the Mesozoic Era? You won’t be after seeing the sci-fi adventure “65” (PG-13, Sony).

The film’s title refers to the millions of years into the past to which co-writers and directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods transport their audience. Not exactly a frolicsome time as far as Mother Nature was concerned.

NEW YORK. Four and a half decades on from the bicentennial year in which it premiered, the “Rocky” franchise is still a cinematic gift that keeps on giving. Thus “Creed III” (PG-13, United Artists), the ninth film in the series, is a thinking-person’s sports drama that will appeal even to those with no particular interest in well-choreographed slugfests.

NEW YORK. The transformation of a grump into a warm and fuzzy character is a trope as old as the Hollywood Hills. So, while the drama-and-comedy blend “A Man Called Otto” (PG-13, Sony) proves generally goodhearted, it also turns out to be formulaic. Mature discernment is required, moreover, to deal with some of the film’s themes.
