Coats for Kids program helps families make ends meet

COLORADO SPRINGS. Scores of Colorado children are toasty warm this winter thanks to the annual Coats for Kids project.

Conducted by the Knights of Columbus (K of C) Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapter and Catholic Charities of Central Colorado (CCCC), Coats for Kids provides children with a warm, winter coat. Financial assistance is provided to the sick, disabled, and the needy and their families through this project.

Father Tomasz Jamka, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, has been named the new chaplain and executive director of Catholic Outreach to Northern Ukraine, (CONU) the organization founded by Father Paul Wicker in the mid-1990s to help the Catholic Church in Ukraine rebuild after decades of Communist oppression.

Catholic Charities to convert Helen Hunt campus to transitional housing

COLORADO SPRINGS. Catholic Charities of Central Colorado has purchased the former Helen Hunt Elementary School, located in the Hillside neighborhood of Colorado Springs, and will soon kick off a capital campaign to fund the construction of 24 transitional housing units inside the building.

COLORADO SPRINGS. On Jan. 7, priests and deacons from the Diocese of Colorado Springs gathered for a day of inspiration, reflection, discussion, and prayer. Co-led by Bishop Andrew Cozzens, chairman of the  Evangelization and Catechesis Committee for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), and Bishop James Golka, the morning activities at St. Gabriel Parish featured an extensive reflection on the Eucharist by Bishop Cozzens, including a detailed plan for the three-year Eucharistic Revival that he has been tasked with organizing.
