COLORADO SPRINGS. ACT for Freedom Now (AFFN), a Catholic grassroots organization, is encouraging every Catholic group, institution and individual to pray the rosary throughout the month of October to end the form of modern slavery that is human trafficking.

“And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, ‘Behold, this child is destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that shall be contradicted.  And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.’” (Luke 2:34, 35).

“Now there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.” (John 19:25).

On Sept. 14, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Most feasts in the Church celebrate a salvific event in the life of Christ or commemorate a saint. This feast, however, celebrates an object — the cross of Christ.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Praying the Rosary with volunteers is providing local seniors with companionship, spiritual nourishment and a renewed sense of purpose.

The Rosary Team, a nonprofit organization founded in 2019 in the Archdiocese of Denver, is a group of people who pray the rosary in pairs in senior care facilities. Volunteers provide companionship and prayer in the resident’s final years of life.
