In Memoriam: Sister Rose Ann Stillmock, OSF

Sister Rose Ann Stillmock, OSF, died June 28 at age 102 at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stanislaus Parish in Omaha, Nebraska, followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery. 

Sister Rose Ann was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on Sept. 5, 1923, the sixth child of Martin and Barbara Stillmock. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration on Aug. 12, 1942, professing her final vows on Aug. 12, 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Regis College in Denver and a master’s degree in elementary school administration from Creighton University in Omaha. She worked as a middle school teacher and principal in Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas for nearly 60 years. She received many awards for her work in education. In 1991, she was named Outstanding Religious Person by the Omaha Archdiocesan Board of Education.  

Sister Rose Ann is survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Bridget Paton, wife of former diocesan finance officer Wayne Paton and a longtime member of St. Paul Parish, died June 18 at age 69. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 7 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
