Corpus Christi to unveil the future at annual gala

COLORADO SPRINGS. Corpus Christi Catholic School has been educating and forming children in the Catholic faith since 1922. Last year, they celebrated 100 years of education, earning them the distinction of being the longest operating school in the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
This year, Corpus Christi Parish turns their focus to the future to plan for their next 100 years.
On April 29, the parish gala will be held at the Creekside Event Center, where a special unveiling will take place, giving attendees the first glance at what their future looks like. Planning for this unveiling has been in the works since last summer.
“We’re working to get to the heart of what we do best here at Corpus Christi,” said Father Brian Roeseler, pastor of Corpus Christi Parish.
“Our focus is on providing an even better academic and faith formation experience at the school and working to bond the school and church communities together.”
Facility improvements are in the works at the church. New curriculum and further development of their classical education program — with an emphasis on coming to know and developing a relationship with Christ — are underway at the school.
With so many changes in the works, including the hiring of their new principal, Bill Carroll, administration wanted to reflect this newness and revival of spirit in every touch point of communication.
“We want our communities to know that we hear them and are working to provide the education that they demand for their families,” Carroll said. “And to further cement that idea, we wanted to show in a very visual way that we are moving forward, in a new direction.”
Immediate changes affecting the school and the church will be visible at the gala and in the days following. Leading up to the end of the school year, and over the summer, administration will continue efforts to develop the future vision and implement changes to make it a reality.
“As with all new things, change takes time, but the parish is committed to building the community that today’s times call for,” said Father Roeseler.
The April 29 gala will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 5 p.m. in The Loft at Creekside Event Center. The Colorado Springs Conservatory Jazz trio will entertain guests as they enjoy hors d’oeuvres, sips, and bidding on an intentionally curated collection of auction items.
Guests will move to the Grand Hall for a catered buffet dinner and live auction, starting at 6:30 p.m. Live auction items will include Colorado trips, a shooting package featuring new technology, and the popular standard, a St. Louis-style barbeque dinner prepared by Father Roeseler, and more.
As for discovering what the unveiling is about, Father Roeseler has some advice: “You’ll have to attend the gala.”
