Catholic Charities counselor Sarah Bidon wins national award
ALEXANDRIA, Va. Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) announced July 26 that Sarah Bidon, a licensed professional counselor with Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, is the recipient of the 2019 Bishop Joseph M. Sullivan Award. The award is given for distinguished service in the area of helping children, youth and families. It will be presented to Bidon at CCUSA’s Annual Gathering in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in September.
Bidon has worked at Catholic Charities since 1996, primarily in the agency’s adoption program.
“Sarah works diligently with everyone involved in the adoption process, including both birth and adoptive parents, ensuring that the adopted child is at the center of attention,” said Dominican Sister Donna Markham, President and CEO of CCUSA. “For Sarah, adoption is not a transaction but a way to help a child move toward a full and happy life.”
“Sarah’s gift of grace from the Holy Spirit for the service of others is the charism of encouragement,” said Kathy Thayer, Vice President of Family Services at Catholic Charities. “Sarah’s relationship with God . . . empowers her to be an effective channel of his love, using her gift to bear fruit in the life of others.”
