Sister Frances Ann Havel dies at age 94
COLORADO SPRINGS. Sister of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration Frances Ann Havel, who was in religious life for 72 years, died at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center on Oct. 27 at age 94. Mass of Resurrection was celebrated Nov. 2 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, followed by burial in the Mount St. Francis cemetery.
Sister Frances Ann (Margaret May) Havel was born on July 6, 1925, in Milligan, Nebraska to Emil and Antonie (Laun) Havel.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Feb. 11, 1947, and made final profession on Aug. 12, 1954.
In 1962, she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loretto Heights College in Denver, and in 1964 she earned a master’s degree in hospital administration from St. Louis University. She worked as an administrator at hospitals in Colorado, Nebraska and New Mexico.
From 1982-2015, she worked as a receptionist at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. Sister Frances Ann retired to Mount St. Francis in May 2015.
She is survived by her sister Virginia and was preceded in death by her sister Irma and brothers Emil and Donald.
