St. Katharine Drexel School is in expansion mode
LITTLETON. St. Katharine Drexel School, located a Pax Christi Parish in Littleton, now has students in preschool, prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. Over the summer, the school added a playground for kindergarten and first-grade students that includes swings, a climbing wall, a basketball hoop and a four-square court.
Father Andre Szczesnowicz, who was recently appointed pastor of Pax Christi Parish, donated the basketball hoop. The school has also been aided in its efforts to upgrade the campus by donations from local businesses, such as Home Depot, and a grant from Douglas County that allowed the school to consult with a security expert and resulted in the installation of cameras, windows, a fence and an updated doorway entry system.
Volunteer Brad Lupher also spent many hours at the school over the summer working on painting, carpentry, flooring, landscaping, repairs and building the base for the new playground.
St. Katharine Drexel is the only preschool in Douglas County to earn a Level 5 rating from Colorado Shines. A fundraiser golf tournament for the school will be held Sept. 29 at the Lone Tree Golf Course. Shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m., and cost is $150 per player. Sponsorships are available.
The school has openings in preschool, prekindergarten and kindergarten. For more information, contact Mandi Lupher at 720-419-0128 or visit https://www.skdcatholicschool.org/. (Liz Murphy is a preschool teacher at St. Katharine Drexel School.)
