Former St. Mary’s High School coach Jim Pepper dies at age 70
MONUMENT. Jim Pepper, a longtime youth leader and coach at Corpus Christi Parish, St. Mary’s High School and St. Peter Parish in Monument, died Aug. 21 at age 70. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 29 at St. Peter.
Pepper was born July 8, 1950 in Boone, Iowa. He and his wife Jane moved to Colorado in 1975.
Pepper worked for the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department for 21 years before retiring as Chief Building Inspector in 2013.
Pepper was a wrestling coach at St. Mary’s High School and was also involved at Corpus Christi School and St. Peter School.
He is survived by his wife Jane; sons Mick (Becki) and Mark (Erin); daughter Katie (Matt); mother Bonnie; siblings Steve, Bill, Gail, Penny, Dave and Andy; and grandchildren Maddie, MacKenzie, Mason, Jack, Caleb, Emmie, A.J., Charlie, Ridge and Brody.
“Jim was a very faith-filled man and such a blessing to so many people, especially in the Catholic school community,” said Father Kyle Ingels, Director of Campus Ministry for the Diocese of Colorado Springs and a cousin of Pepper.
