HUNTINGTON, Indiana. The Fiat Project, an eight-month formation program for young adult women in their twenties and thirties developed by the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco Western Province, was named one of the 12 finalists in the OSV Challenge, making the program eligible to win one of three $100,000 prizes to advance its mission.

Finalists will give presentations on their projects during the OSV Challenge Showscase on Sept. 18 via Zoom. Presenting on the Fiat Project will be Salesian Sister Bernadette Mota, former Director of Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Colorado Springs.

The OSV Challenge is an annual entrepreneurial competition hosted by the OSV Institute for Catholic Innovation. “We are not aiming to fund the next good idea, but to invest in people — emerging innovators and seasoned trailblazers — by forming a new generation of entrepreneurs who are not afraid to relook at how we encounter and evangelize through the truth and beauty of the Catholic Church,” said Jason Shanks, president of the OSV Institute for Catholic Innovation.

The OSV Institute was founded in 1915 by Father John Francis Noll to extend the reach of Our Sunday Visitor newspaper in service and support of Catholic organizations. More than $80 million has been granted to date. It was renamed the OSV Institute for Catholic Innovation in 2021 to better reflect its mission.

Registration is currently open for the 2021-22 season of the Fiat Project. The program will take place online or in person depending on location. Kick-off is Oct. 9 from 6:30-8 p.m. MST. Group meetings take place on the second Saturday of the month from October-May, and participants will also have individual meetings with a spiritual guide. An optional in-person retreat is scheduled for Nov. 12-14 in Los Angeles.

Topics covered in monthly meetings will include Trusting God and Self-knowledge, The Vocation to Marriage, Introduction to Religious Life, Holy Indifference and Overcoming Fears, and Vows, Community Life and Stages of Formation. Each session includes prayer, formation, discussion and fellowship. There is no set cost to participate but donations are requested.
