COLORADO SPRINGS. Anyone interested in participating in Bishop Michael Sheridan’s 2018 Danube Cruise Pilgrimage Oct. 31-Nov. 10, has only a short window now to reserve space among a very limited number of cabins.

Bishop Sheridan, Msgr. Bob Jaeger, pastor of St. Paul Parish in Colorado Springs, and former Colorado Catholic Herald editor Bill Howard will lead this special cruise pilgrimage of Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Pilgrims also have the opportunity, at additional cost, to extend their stay an extra 2-3 days and visit either Prague or Czestechowa and Krakow, Poland.

According to Edita Krunic, president of Select International Tours, the ship now has under 20 cabins available and remains on pace to sell out by the end of March. The Diocese of Colorado Springs will be one of several groups filling the ship, so remaining cabins are claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

A welcome gathering/information night will be announced soon, and details will appear here and in an email to registered pilgrims. Around that time, we will also begin a series of emails highlighting travel tips and spiritual formation to prepare for the journey.

Daily Mass is included throughout the pilgrimage, and beautiful churches where Masses are being finalized include the shrine in Altotting, Maria Plain Basilica in Salzburg, St. Martin Cathedral in Bratislava and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Budapest. Pilgrims will get to explore a deeply rich Catholic part of the world.

The Amadeus Silver III ship combines the luxuries of a 5-star hotel with first-class crew service. There are three room decks, with the top featuring 12 luxury suites with walkout balconies. The majority of the other cabins have automatically lowering panorama windows, offering a spectacular view of the passing river landscapes. All cabins have a modern bathroom and a walk-in closet. The top deck of the Silver III features a glass-shielded River Terrace, and the main restaurant offers panoramic views.

Pricing is based on double occupancy and ranges from $3,695 to $4,195 cash/check (credit card pricing is also available at a slightly higher cost). While the pilgrimage begins at JFK airport, Select can also book the leg from Denver or Colorado Springs for additional cost. Pilgrims who fly out of Denver will arrive in Munich around the same time as the JFK group.
