I read the other day that Denver International Airport is working on a $1.3- billion renovation — $1.3 billion. Written out, that is $1,300,000,000. For a renovation. I was at DIA in May and it seemed fine. The floors were polished granite, the train was cheerfully automated and the seats in the terminal were comfortable (dentist-office comfortable). Also, I was safely able to get on a plane and go somewhere — the core function of an airport.

COLORADO SPRINGS. The Diocese of Colorado Springs is once again hosting the Totus Tuus program, which is taking place at 19 parishes around the diocese this summer. The program is broken into two age groups — a day program for elementary-age kids and a night program for middle-schoolers and high-schoolers. This year, there are nine college students and seminarians leading Totus Tuus.

ORLANDO, Fla. From July 1-4 the main floor of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Orlando was transformed into a huge parish hall with places for worship, prayer, discussion, and even coffee and doughnuts during the “Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in America.” At the convocation 3,500 church leaders — men and women religious, bishops and laypeople — gathered to set a new course for the U.S. Catholic Church.
