Some priests and deacons have reported that there still may be some confusion about these. A brief review of the “Order of Christian Funerals” may be of help to those whose duty it is to provide for the burial of their loved ones.

St. Gabriel the Archangel invites everyone to “Walk with the Martyrs,” a live reenactment of Christian martyrdom, on Oct. 27, 5-9 p.m. Trunk or Treat will be at 5 p.m. Mass follows at 6 p.m. A pot luck dinner will be held at 7 p.m. Walk with the Martyrs is from 7:30-9 p.m. Anyone who wants to dress in costume should reflect a saint or biblical character. Benedictine Sister Kathleen Cogan has published “Three Nuns from the Ranch,” which recounts her life as one of three sisters from a ranch near Buena Vista who entered the Benedictine order and eventually lived together at Benet Hill Monastery. A book signing will take place at Benet Hill, located at 3190 Benet Lane in Colorado Springs, on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-noon.

As many Catholics know, the Second Vatican Council famously referred to the liturgy as the “source and summit of the Christian life.” And following the prompts of the great figures of the liturgical movement in the first half of the twentieth century, the Council Fathers called for a fuller, more conscious, and more active participation in the liturgy on the part of Catholics.
