COLORADO SPRINGS. Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Walsingham, a member of the Chesterton Schools Network, has begun compiling a waiting list for high school students interested in the school’s inaugural semester in Fall 2021. This classical Catholic high school is the first Chesterton Academy in Colorado Springs and one of 30 across 14 U.S. states, Canada and Italy.  Twelve new Chesterton Academy high schools opened in 2020.

The downcast face of the young woman still haunts me. As her boyfriend drove her to Planned Parenthood, her body, all slumped over, said it all. She didn’t have a choice. As they stopped their car near me, I gave her a small gift bag and told them about the free help at the Pregnancy Center. Emotionless, she let the bag fall from her fingers and drop to the floor of the car. She had already given up. Was she being forced into the abortion?

COLORADO SPRINGS. As it has every year since 2014, the Military Outreach Ministry provided Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts to the families of  military personal and wounded veterans who are in need. This year, though, the project took an interesting turn due to the challenges of the pandemic.  As we all had to adapt to the challenges of COVID-19 this past holiday season, the support of the Catholic faithful in our diocese in assisting our military and veterans within the Diocese of Colorado Springs remained unwavering.

Whether it’s for sex or labor, called human trafficking or slavery, human beings in our country still live and die toiling daily under force, fraud and coercion to enrich criminals’ wealth and power. And it turns out our communities are turning into places where exploited little girls and boys are pawns in a multi-million dollar sex trafficking industry. We face large-scale sex trafficking rings involving our youth in even our most affluent communities.

Father Brad Noonan was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Elmhurst, Queens. 
When he was in fifth grade, his family moved to Hallandale, Florida. He graduated from Chaminade High School in Hollywood, Florida, and from Biscayne College in Miami.
