COLORADO SPRINGS. Catherine Hammond hopes that people will focus on the important aspects of their lives before they die, so she and some friends have been putting up chalkboard signs around Colorado Springs inviting people to write on the boards about what they would like to do before they die. The boards have been up around town for a month, and Hammond is surprised and pleased by the results of the signs. They’ve served as conversation starters for downtown business people and as a moment of solidarity in a homeless person’s life.

COLORADO SPRINGS. When Mike Biondini retired from the Widefield School District after 31 years, he wasn’t sure what interests he would pursue. He was working toward joining an investment group when he heard that St. Mary’s High School had a counselor position open. Interested in the possibility of returning to his alma mater, Biondini applied for the position and began working at St. Mary’s.

And both are intertwined much more than a lot of people think, according to Gregory, who will speak at Armstrong Hall on the campus of Colorado College on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

Benedictine Sister Kathleen Cogan has published “Three Nuns from the Ranch,” which recounts her life as one of three sisters from a ranch near Buena Vista who entered the Benedictine order and eventually lived together at Benet Hill Monastery. A book signing will take place at Benet Hill, located at 3190 Benet Lane in Colorado Springs, on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-noon.
