COLORADO SPRINGS. The first day of Bishop Sheridan’s 2018 Danube Pilgrimage Cruise will feature a tour of the scenic Bavarian capital of Munich, Germany.

Bishop Sheridan and Msgr. Bob Jaeger will lead this special Catholic cruise pilgrimage of Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary in the Oct.  31-Nov. 10, 2018.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop Michael Sheridan will celebrate the annual White Mass for physicians and allied health care professionals on Oct. 22 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral.  A reception will follow.

FALCON. Bishop Michael Sheridan dedicated St. Benedict Parish’s new church on Oct. 8, capping a 12-year effort to build a permanent place where Catholics in Eastern El Paso County can come together. The new church has seating for about 250 people.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Holy Apostles Preschool is holding a gala on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at Holy Apostles Church to celebrate the preschool’s 40th anniversary. Everyone from the community is invited to join the preschool to celebrate with drinks and cake, pictures and a silent auction. 

Admission is free.

Proceeds from the silent auction will be used to keep quality teachers, update technology and replace educational resources. 

Holy Apostles Preschool was founded in 1976 as a co-op that requires parents to help in their child’s room on a regular basis.

That goal aligned perfectly with the Future City competition, which one St. Mary’s High School student participated in all three years of middle school. Not only did the competition teach Alex Baburnic, now a sophomore at St. Mary’s, to look for physical ways to change the world, but it gave him the confidence that he could succeed in doing just that.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop Michael Sheridan will consecrate the Diocese of Colorado Springs to the Immaculate Heart of Mary during a Rosary Rally on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Holy Apostles Church. The event coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s final apparition at Fatima, Portugal, which occurred on Oct. 13, 1917.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop Michael Sheridan will dedicate a new church for St. Benedict Parish in Falcon on Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. The church is located at 12150 Falcon Highway. Following the dedication, a new Mass schedule will take effect for St. Benedict. Masses will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. on Sundays. St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish’s EPIC Middle School Faith Formation group is presenting a live reenactment of Christian martyrdom on Oct. 27 from 5-9 p.m. The evening begins with “trunk or treat” at 5 p.m. followed by Mass at 6 p.m., a potluck dinner at 7 p.m. and “Walk with the Martyrs” from 7:30-9 p.m. Costumes are welcomed but should reflect saints or biblical characters. DENVER. The Catholic Medical Association held its 86th annual conference in Denver Sept. 6-9, bringing together over 750 medical professionals from across the nation.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Medicine at the Service of Marriage and Family,” emphasizing the practitioner’s mission to go beyond treating just the physical body and deal with patients in light of the social teaching of the Church.
