SECURITY. A memorial Mass for Father Bill Carmody will take place Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. at St. Dominic Parish in Security. Father Carmody, former pastor of St. Dominic and director of the diocesan Respect Life Office, died Feb. 23, 2016. Light refreshments and drinks will be served after the Mass.

COLORADO SPRINGS. The diocesan observance of the World Day of the Sick will take place Feb. 10 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, led by Bishop Michael Sheridan. After Mass at 12:10 p.m. and the anointing of the sick, the Order of Malta Stations of the Cross for the Sick will be prayed.

The Colorado Springs Council for Black Catholics  will hold its annual Mardi Gras fundraiser, benefitting the St. Martin de Porres Scholarship Fund, on Feb. 25 from 6-11 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 567 Marquette in Security. WASHINGTON.  Tens of thousands of pro-lifers filled the grounds near the Washington Monument and marched up Constitution Avenue to the U.S. Supreme Court Jan. 27 as both a protest of legalized abortion and a celebration of successful pro-life efforts across the country.

Immaculee Ilibagiza, a survivor of the genocide in Rwanda and author of the book “Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Genocide,” will give a Lenten presentation March 3-4 at St. Michael Parish in Cañon City. COLORADO SPRINGS.  The Diocesan Pastoral Plan for 2015-2020, “Forming Communities of Missionary Disciples,” is now in its second year. Over the next 12 months, parish leaders are being encouraged to highlight the Mass as the center of parish life and look for ways to “develop the appeal and user-friendliness” of their parishes, said Father Jim Baron, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish and one of the plan’s authors.
