Father David Price named to USCCB post

COLORADO SPRINGS. Father David Price, who has served as rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral for over a decade, has been appointed Associate Director of the Secretariat for Divine Worship of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. In his new role — a three-year term beginning in January — he will be working with Father Dustin Dought, Executive Director of the Secretariat for Divine Worship. Father Jaimes Ponce, J.C.D., will serve as temporary administrator of St. Mary’s Cathedral effective Jan. 1.

Garden at Our Lady of the Pines is a cornucopia of nutrition

COLORADO SPRINGS. Three Our Lady of the Pines parishioners have been tending a vegetable garden that provides fresh produce for the city’s needy population.

Shari Underwood, Deb Calhoun and Carla Dunford tend a garden located on the rectory grounds at Our Lady of the Pines Parish in the Black Forest section of Colorado Springs. The garden provides nutritionally-rich produce grown to support the needs of poor, urban neighborhoods and rural, secluded areas. This includes struggling families, seniors living on a fixed income, the working poor, military veterans, the disabled, unsupported teens and the city’s homeless population.

Woodland Park blood drive most successful in region

WOODLAND PARK. The Knights of Columbus are out for blood — in the best possible way.

Their bimonthly blood drive, held at Our Lady of the Woods Church, has seen remarkable growth in 2023. Where 2022 was consistently around 70 donors per drive, that number went to 76 in March before skyrocketing to 94 in May, 106 in July and 122 in September.

Teen Night with Bishop Golka set for Nov. 5 at OLP

COLORADO SPRINGS. All teens in the diocese in grades 9-12 are invited to a High School Night with Bishop James Golka on Nov. 5 at Our Lady of the Pines Parish. The event will begin with Mass at 5:30 p.m., followed by a pizza dinner at and a presentation by Bishop Golka from 7:15-8:15 p.m. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Stacy@ourladyofthepines.org by Nov. 1.

Pilgrimage Yields Spiritual Nourishment

COLORADO SPRINGS. A recent pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain is being recognized for helping bring parishioners closer to family, friends and God.

Holy Cross Father Randy Rentner, associate pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Colorado Springs, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Manitou Springs and Holy Rosary Chapel in Cascade, led 19 parishioners along the Way of St. James in Spain — known as the Camino de Santiago — in July.
