John Mulderig 0 177

NEW YORK. The three-year National Eucharistic Revival that began in 2022 comes to the big screen with the arrival of the educational and energizing documentary “Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist” (Fathom Events). Written and directed by Tim Moriarty, the roughly 90-minute film was shown in theaters over several days in June.

NEW YORK. John Krasinski wrote, directed and plays a prominent role in the generally wholesome fantasy “IF” (PG, Paramount). Yet, while the good intentions behind his film are evident, it ends up registering as a sweet but flawed piece of entertainment, one that gets in its own way by trying too hard to be liked.

Aldo Raine, in the 2009 film “Inglourious Basterds.” The same might be said by the core cast of the fact-based World War II action comedy “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” (R, Lionsgate).

NEW YORK. An inspiring but once little-known chapter of history provides the basis for the Holocaust drama “Irena’s Vow” (R, Quiver). The humane basic values of the story could potentially make it appealing for older teens as well as grown-ups. However, a plot development involving an objectively immoral situation requires careful assessment.
