Catholic School Graduation— It’s Different!
June 1, 2018 | By
HOLLY GOODWIN
I just finished attending several Masses and graduations from our Catholic schools, and each was such a gift and gave me hope for the future of our diocese.
The words of the pastors, principals and students let me know we are on the right track.
Steubenville of the Rockies offers a deep faith experience
May 18, 2018 | By
AMY PARTAIN
COLORADO SPRINGS. Powerful. Faith deepening. Growing in understanding. That’s how St. Mary’s High School students describe their experiences at last year’s Steubenville of the Rockies Youth Conference in Denver. This year, St. Mary’s High School has reserved 13 student spots and three chaperone spots for the conference, which will be held June 22-24 at the Crowne Plaza at the Denver International Airport.
Divine Redeemer families support firefighters battling area wildfire
May 18, 2018 | By
THERESA WARD
COLORADO SPRINGS. Preschoolers who shared snacks out of their backpacks with firefighters were a small part of an outpouring of generosity that happened when the Divine Redeemer community mobilized to help a member of the parish staff who lost her home in a wildfire.
Camp was start of SMHS baseball player’s career
May 4, 2018 | By
AMY PARTAIN
COLORADO SPRINGS. Not many high school juniors can say that they’ve been a part of their school’s baseball team for more than 10 years. But St. Mary’s High School junior Nick Baca has a hard time remembering a time in his life when St. Mary’s baseball wasn’t a part of it. He started as a bat boy at the age of five and continued in that role until he was 12. When he entered St. Mary’s as a freshman in 2015-2016, he resumed his Pirate baseball career.

COLORADO SPRINGS. As Christians we are called to serve without seeking recognition for that service. As Paul wrote in Philippians, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:3-5, NIV).

COLORADO SPRINGS. Karolyn Grimes’ most famous line from her days in Hollywood — “Look, Daddy! Teacher says, ‘Everytime a bell rings an angel gets his wings’”— concludes the harrowing story of George Bailey in the Frank Capra classic film “It’s a Wonderful Life.” On April 14, Grimes will bring some of that old Hollywood magic to the St. Mary’s High School Annual Gala, which this year is themed “Lights. Camera. Auction.”

COLORADO SPRINGS. The 2018-2019 school year is bringing some fun new, or returning, courses to the line-up at St. Mary’s High School. February 2, 2018 | By

COLORADO SPRINGS. Sometimes success comes with being presented the right opportunities. Alexander Hamilton is a prime example, achieving great things thanks to the generosity of sponsors who provided him an education he couldn’t have accessed without financial assistance from generous benefactors. Now St. Mary’s High School is providing similar opportunities to students through its new Hamilton Scholar program.
