COLORADO SPRINGS. Living out the Catholic faith means working to make the world a better place. That goal aligned perfectly with the Future City competition, which one St. Mary’s High School student participated in all three years of middle school. Not only did the competition teach Alex Baburnic, now a sophomore at St. Mary’s, to look for physical ways to change the world, but it gave him the confidence that he could succeed in doing just that.

COLORADO SPRINGS. High school is a time to investigate interests. This year students at St. Mary’s High School have more areas of interests in science to explore, thanks to three new semester-long classes. During the fall semester, marine biology and nuclear chemistry were added to the course catalog. In the spring semester, a new microbiology class will be added.

COLORADO SPRINGS. St. Mary’s High School is a family united by community. St. Mary’s Golf Classic is a great way for the Pirate community to not only renew relationships, but to support current and future Pirates as well. The 41st Annual Golf Classic is set for Sept. 18 at the Kissing Camels Golf Course, 3320 Mesa Rd., in Colorado Springs.

COLORADO SPRINGS. The Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering program at St. Mary’s High School will be fully in place this fall with the addition of the fourth course completing a highly successful four-year roll out. The PLTW engineering program strengthens St. Mary’s already strong STEM (science technology engineering math) offerings.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Four years ago this month, in May 2013, Colton Calandrella donned his Pirate green cap and gown and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. At graduation he was awarded the Spirit of Mary Award and the Theology Student of the Year Award, evidence of the importance of faith in his life. As he graduates this month from Olin Business Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, Calandrella is again being recognized, this time as one of the top business majors of 2017, but he continues to give all of the credit for his success to God.

COLORADO SPRINGS. When someone older interacts with youth, one never knows the life-changing potential that interaction might have. Teens often serve as role models and inspiration for younger students, which is why the students at St. Mary’s High School reach out to parochial school students through several different programs.
