Catholic Foundation launches website, creates Stewards as part of restructuring

COLORADO SPRINGS. The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Colorado Springs announced that it has undergone a major restructuring in order to better achieve its long-term goal of creating a legacy of support for the ministries of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, said Catholic Foundation Chairman of the Board Christopher Scurto.
As a result of the restructure and as a means by which the foundation can continue to grow its assets, the board of directors has also created the Stewards of the Catholic Foundation.
A giving society of donors who have made a pledge or donation of $25,000 or more to the Stewards Endowment of the Catholic Foundation, the Stewards, by their generous gift, make an investment into the long-term and sustainable future of the Catholic Foundation and the faithful served by the diocese. All gifts are invested into the Stewards Endowment, allowing the board to make grants from a percentage of the income generated.
The grants will respond to the most pressing needs faced by the diocese, its parishes, schools, apostolates, and ministries. With each Steward comes additional support and a brighter future for the practice of the faith in the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
The Stewards will host their inaugural reception at the residence of Bishop James Golka on Sept. 25, 2025. At the reception, Bishop Emeritus Richard C. Hanifen, the first bishop of Colorado Springs, will be recognized as the foundation’s first Honorary Steward.
The new website tells the story of the foundation and provides supporters with the opportunity to make a donation directly to the Annual Fund, Stewards Endowment, and any of the other foundation endowments. There is an endowment for each parish and school of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, and for the first time, donors have the ability to make gifts directly to any of these funds. Information is also available about the ways to join the Stewards, make an investment into a diocesan ministry, or establish a named endowed fund.

The Catholic Foundation was created by Bishop Hanifen in 1991 to “Establish, maintain, and distribute funds for the benefit of the parishes and schools, apostolates, and other ministries, of the Diocese of Colorado Springs.”
