NEW YORK. Though it has the relationship between a teen girl and a cuddly creature at its core, “The Legend of Ochi” (PG, A24) is not a sunny children’s movie. In fact, this fantasy tale is a sort of infernal machine of confounding dark imagery, threats of violence and a mixed moral about honoring your parents while respecting nature.

NEW YORK. Beginning with its 2017 pilot episode and a first full season that kicked off in 2019, showrunner Dallas Jenkins’ Gospel-based TV series “The Chosen” has gained a wide following. Viewers, moreover, have proved willing to devote their money as well as their attention to the successfully crowdfunded production.

Viewers of “The Last Supper” (PG-13, Pinnacle Peak), director and co-writer Mauro Borrelli’s dramatization of events surrounding the Passion, may be able to tell that he has a strong visual background. A veteran art designer who has collaborated with such high-profile figures as Tim Burton, Borrelli gives us some warm and vivid imagery.
