Tea party at St. Dominic is celebration of femininity

By Mary Kuntz

SECURITY. Donning beautiful flowery hats and pretty dresses, 140 women who are members of St. Dominic Parish in Security met for high tea at a party on Sept. 16.

The event began with the ladies reciting the Litany of Loretto in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The tables at St. Dominic were decorated by the table hostesses, each with its own color and special theme. Flavored teas and scones and plenty of other foods were enjoyed by those attending.

The special guest speaker, Margit McCarthy, who has been an instructor with the Denver Catholic Biblical School and the Center for Evangelization and Catechesis in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, spoke about the importance of the Blessed Mother and how she can help women defend their families in today’s secular culture.

McCarthy described the Blessed Virgin as God’s ultimate female creation, the mother of Jesus, Son of God.

Because of her, women can celebrate their femininity while having the strength of a lioness in protecting their own families, McCarthy said.

The Knights of Columbus Council No. 4636 of St Dominic Parish served the ladies at the tea.
