COLORADO SPRINGS. Bishop Michael Sheridan will join with Bishop James Gonia of the Rocky Mountain Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to preside over an ecumenical prayer service to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

The service will take place March 12 at 3 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4720 Galley Rd., in Colorado Springs. All are invited to attend.

The service will be identical to the one at which Pope Francis co-presided in Lund, Sweden.

Bishop Gonia has characterized the service as one of Common Prayer that provides the opportunity to look back in humility at divisions between the two churches and in thanksgiving for when they have been overcome.
