COLORADO SPRINGS. Pope Paul VI’s 1968 encyclical outlining the Catholic Church’s teaching on contraception was poorly received and appeared to be an inadequate response to the sexual revolution. Nonetheless, his prediction that efforts to separate sex from procreation would lead to the objectification of women has been born out over the past 50 years, said a well-known Catholic speaker at Holy Apostles Parish on May 15.

DENVER. Democrats for Life will hold their inaugural national conference in Denver July 20-22 at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast. The purpose of the conference is to discuss ways to infuse a pro-life perspective into national culture and politics. Public comment period now open for proposed Protect Life Rule for Title X

Protect Life Rule aims to stop abortion funding

WASHINGTON. The public comment period on the Protect Life Rule, a proposed revision to Title X regulations, opened June 1 and will close July 31.

The Office of Population Affairs, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, oversees the Title X Family Planning Program.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Rob Rysavy first became a part of the St. Mary’s High School family 12 years ago when his oldest daughter, Alex, entered the school as a freshman. Over the years he has served the St. Mary’s community in many ways, including coach and a member of the board of directors. On July 1, Rysavy will step into a new role for St. Mary’s, that of president of the school.

Some of the people who come to Catholic Charities Marian House need a meal to live.  Others need a meal to survive — directing food dollars saved to rent or other necessities to remain in their homes. It has been that way from the beginning, when in 1970, Steve Handen began feeding people who were hungry out of his own home.  Thirteen meals were served that first day.

This year, St. Mary’s High School has reserved 13 student spots and three chaperone spots for the conference, which will be held June 22-24 at the Crowne Plaza at the Denver International Airport.
