COLORADO SPRINGS. Even though parishioners at St. Gabriel the Archangel weren’t able to attend any Masses during the month of April, the parish not only held its regular monthly food drive but held an extra drive that resulted in a 3,500-pound food donation to Marian House soup kitchen.

CRIPPLE CREEK. St. Peter Chapel in Cripple Creek has seen a resurgence in attendance in the past few years. Not only was the church itself remodeled, a new community hall has been added to the property.

COLORADO SPRINGS. On March 1, Holy Apostles Parish celebrated the grand re-opening of its parish library, which is located on the lower level of the church building.

The library was closed during the month of February, during which time it underwent a complete remodeling and reorganization.

LITTLETON. A Divine Mercy Retreat called “How to Forgive Yourself and Others” will take place March 7 from 9:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. at Pax Christi Parish in Littleton. Mary Braun-Payne will be the facilitator of the retreat, which will help participants learn the steps necessary to reach forgiveness and overcome obstacles such as hurt, anger, etc. Cost is $10. CASTLE ROCK. Knights of Columbus Council No. 8909 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Castle Rock is offering copies of “A Knight’s Rosary” at a cost of $4 each, which covers shipping and handling. 

Containing short and long meditations on the original 15 mysteries, the book has been updated to include meditations on the Luminous mysteries, instructions on praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with two sets of meditations, articles on holy water and sacramentals, a blessing prayer for home and family, and more.

Sister of Charity Rosalie Riggio dies at age 90

DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio. Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Rosalie Riggio died Dec. 25, 2019, at the age of 90 at Pikes Peak Hospice. Sister Rosalie was born on May 8, 1929 to Joseph and Mary (Glaviano) Riggio in Jansen, Colorado. She was the fourth child of six, with two dying at birth. She was a Sister of Charity for 72 years. When making vows she chose the name Joseph Maureen.

COLORADO SPRINGS. John Tosto was a World War II veteran, father of eight children, a business owner, and an accomplished artist. He had also designed and crafted numerous works of art for his parish, Our Lady of the Pines, and other local churches. But when he realized that he would not live to see his final project through to completion, it was devastating.

LIMON. The Union Pacific Railroad still thunders past the small town of Limon, 72 miles east of Colorado Springs. Years ago, frequent stops of passenger trains encouraged growth and the founding of the place, but now it’s the highway that brings visitors. Making their way along Interstate 70, travelers come in for a landing to be served by a bright new cluster of gas stations, gift shops, and several chain hotels. Locals enjoy good work here, and many will attend Mass today at Our Lady of Victory, a handsome red brick church founded in 1925. Today — Dec. 15, 2019 — is a special day, and people and luminaries stream in from all over.

COLORADO SPRINGS. When Rick Lentz started donating funds to St. Paul Street Evangelization (SPSE) he didn’t plan to become quite so involved as he is now. What began as simply providing financial support quickly turned into taking some of their online evangelization courses, which soon led him to find out what it would take to become a team leader for Colorado Springs.
