The Saint Cecilia Schola Cantorum is a Diocesan sponsored youth choral program that meets every Friday Sept-May after school at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Based firmly on the premise that all Catholics are called to actively participate in the liturgy, the SCSC endeavors to teach youth grades K-12 how to sing properly, read melodies and rhythms and understand basic music theory. Through a highly organized graduated curriculum including written homework and final exams, choristers also acquire skills like parts-singing, liturgical understanding and Latin pronunciation, that will give them the confidence to sing out fully, joyfully and confidently in liturgies throughout their Catholic lives. The Saint Cecilia Schola Cantorum is not just a choir to sing pretty songs. It is a musical class for young Catholics that changes lives.
