COLORADO SPRINGS. Elaine Tourville, who served as volunteer librarian for Holy Apostles Parish for more than 30 years, died Aug. 13. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 25 at Holy Apostles.

COLORADO SPRINGS. It’s hardly news that planning for death — or, more precisely, for what happens after it — may be the least popular to-do list item ever.

Yet consider the alternative: if a person dies without putting their wishes down on paper, they leave the funeral planning in the hands of grief-stricken family members who may or may not practice the Catholic faith. Increasingly, the Catholic Church is encouraging parents to spare their kids the anxiety of working through funeral details.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Janelle O’Keeffe, a longtime member of the Serra Club of Colorado Springs, died July 18 in Colorado Springs. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 19 at the Newman Center, followed by burial at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

COLORADO SPRINGS.  Sister Judith Anne Schaeffer died Aug. 3 at age 86 at Mount St. Francis. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, followed by burial in Mount St. Francis Cemetery.

HONOLULU. Father Alphonsus Khanh Kim Pham-Nguyen died July 27 at age 60 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A vigil and Requiem Mass took place at Our Lady of Lavang Church in Albuquerque Aug.8-9. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 16 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, with Bishop Larry Silva presiding, followed by a private Rite of Committal.

LARKSPUR. Patti Lefebvre, a longtime member and volunteer at St. Benedict Parish in Falcon, died May 18 at age 88. 

COLORADO SPRINGS. Cleta Jasper, a longtime member of St. Patrick Parish who was active in the Respect Life Apostolate, died April 9 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 16 at St. Patrick Parish. 

COLORADO SPRINGS. Linda Visinsky, who served as office manager for Holy Apostles Parish from 1991 to 2006, died March 18 at age 79 in Colorado Springs. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 4 at Holy Apostles, followed by burial at the Air Force Academy Cemetery. 

COLORADO SPRINGS. Franciscan Sister Winifred Moersen died March 27 at age 97 at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 5 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, followed by burial in Mount St. Francis Cemetery.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Deacon David Sekel died March 11 at age 72 due to renal cell cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 5 at 10 a.m. at Divine Redeemer Church, with Bishop James Golka presiding.
